Nobody knows how to fix the issue or wants to help. Linux sucks and so does the community.

Bite me! I think they just don't like your crappy attitude!

Dude, what is the difference between Kubuntu and Ubuntu that it should be better at handling network and h/w config and other non-ui stuff?
All that Kubuntu has is KDE packages instead of Gnome packages.
I suspect you'd have the same experience with Ubuntu Feisty...

At least you got your resolution to work. I'm stuck permanently in 640x480 mode and can't see a thing because the windows are gargantuan. I've researched this issue as thoroughly as I could. Nothing works! Absolutely nothing! Not changing out the driver for vesa. Not forcing it to use 915resolution. Not anything. I've asked for help but apparently nobody knows how to resolve the issue. I must be the only person on the planet using kubu on a 4 y/o machine with an intel i485 onboard display. Or is it that this distro is written only for those with screaming brand new systems? Nobody knows how to fix the issue or wants to help. Linux sucks and so does the community.

glad to hear you're having a good go with ubuntu this time. I'm thinking of switching over from XP, myself. I'm currently looking for advice and opinions. If you have any you'd like to share, comment on my blog entry, "Fool's Gold.'
