Media and people, both are the culprits of this ridiculous news coverages. Ppl not interested in the political issues, common man's problems etc. In the age of globalization the Indians are think only about the entertainment things. They are curious about the celebrities rather than the country.

Media needs circulation. So they are utilizing the new behaviour of the society. That is a very bad thing. Media can change this attitude, but they dont do that. They are responsible to making money only.

"Oh God please change the mind of ppl and media". We can do this thing only.

Well i feel media is not the only culprit here...
Ppl watch news for entertainment these days as a common man is more mesmerized by peeking into the lives of bollywood stars and cricketers. The main motive of news channels being a communicator for showing people the relevant stuff(stuff which actually effect their lives) is lost.

Very true Indian news is getting waste. Concentrating on all the faltu stuff it can. I found this good article they say was forwarded to people as chain people. http://www.youmarks.com/story.php?id=185

Surely we need to do something about it. But what can we do

I have to say, the Indian media REALLY winds me up. With a few notable exceptions like the people who work for Frontline, The Hindu and Tehelka, most Indian journalists seem like spoiled brats who wouldn't know (or be interested in) investigative journalism if it bit them in the face. To pick a local example, all the furore about dogs in Bangalore, but virtually nothing about the water privatisation. It drives me mad. I remember sitting in a car with a journalist doing a piece on the riots in Gujarat just after she'd been. She said that none of the Muslims wanted to talk to her, and she didn't think that anything really bad had happened to them. There I was thinking "oh really? A Muslim who's just been the victim of violence from a Hindu mob doesn't want to talk to a high-caste Hindu from a big city? Wierd eh!" Grrrr... But Ashish is also right - things are no better in other places (although being a Brit I have to name-check the BBC and the Guardian).
